Annie’s Place is named in honour of Annie (1943–2024), whose life was defined by generosity, kindness, and a quiet love of travel and family.
Born in Malaysia in 1943, Annie began her career as a schoolteacher, a profession that reflected her gentle, caring nature. She later moved to Sydney, Australia, where she spent many meaningful years and developed a deep affection for the city and its people. Although she eventually returned to Malaysia to support and manage the family business, Australia remained close to her heart, and she continued to visit often.
Annie was the proud mother of three sons and a devoted grandmother. This home in Japan was thoughtfully dedicated to her by her sons, creating a place where her grandchildren could gather, ski, and enjoy the outdoors together—a setting that reflects the joy, connection, and curiosity Annie valued so deeply.
Annie welcomed people with warmth and grace and believed that travel should be comfortable, enriching, and shared. We are pleased to extend this home to you in that same spirit, and we hope your stay at Annie’s Place is one of ease, comfort, and meaningful moments—just as Annie herself would have wished.
